Opinion on both knees which are extremely painful when bending, please?

Chair Lift

When bending, both of my knees are extremely painful.

They have crunching sounds in them, or sounds as if they were rolling on gears and going through the notches. When I sit in a chair I have to do this with my legs straight and hold on to a table while I descend to the chair. Once sitting I can bend them slightly, or gently lift them to a bent position. As I do this they seem to feel as if they are caught on something and then they also pop. I straddle stairs one at a time with both legs straight, and step at the very end-side of each step, being left or right respectively for each leg. I always use 1-2 canes

Anybody out there have any clue as to what could be causing this very painful issue? I realize I may have to see a Dr. if it does not go away.

Thanks for any responses.

Sounds like arthritis. I was diagnosed with it at age 16….due to sports injury. There are pain med treatments and surgery to help alleviate pain and problems. I have a lot of what you are explaining. I had arthroscopic surgery and it only helped for about a year. They wanted to reconstruct my knee when the first surgery failed to help. Go see a doctor.

sounds like you may have arthritis, or even some loose cartilage in your knees. My knee "clicks" when i go up stairs. my mom has the same problem you do, and just had orthoscopic surgery. They cleaned out all the loose bone that was floating around under her knee cap. The swelling in her knee went away as well as most of the pain and "grinding"

Sounds like you might have cartilage issues. If they are "crunching", it’s most likely bone-on-bone contact.

It won’t get better on it’s own. Go see a doctor

as i read the beginning of the question i could see potential for abuse, haha. Id say you need new knee joints put in.

The crepitus or crunching sound you hear, is bone grinding on bone.
since it is painful at this point… and causing such a great disability, I would say you need to have gone to the doctor weeks ago.
you most likely have arthritis.. and you probably need bilateral knee replacements.
    Go in and get xrays.

Dont be late.you need doctor immediately.Doctor may prescribe you some medicine and some exercise. Use lift instead of stairs. And do not put presure on your knees.

Unless your pain is being caused by bending your knees in the wrong direction, of course you must see a Dr. At once. In the morning! Right now the only thing subject to "go away" is your ability to walk. See a Dr.
