Questions to Ask When Shopping For a Handicap Stair Lift

When you are shopping for a handicap stair lift, you have to consider the different factors before you make a final decision about your purchase. Here are some important considerations you have to look into as you look for the best and ideal handicap chair lift for you:

1.) Does it have provision for transporting a chair? A chair lift should be able to support anyone, even those who do not have the ability to lift their body weight and stand on their feet. Some handicap lifts do not enable chairs to be transported up and down the stairs, so it would require a significant amount of time to have a person sit on the chair and go from one place to another.

2.) Does it have easy-to-operate up and down buttons and controls? A lot of handicap stair chair lifts require users to apply constant pressure in the buttons. Make sure that what you get is easy to press and would not be too difficult for the handicapped to use.

3.) Is the seat belt enough to support a weak user? Some chairs are equipped with seat belts. However, make sure that the stair lift you would get has enough support for whoever would use it. If the user does not have enough strength to support their upper body, then it should have enough support in the form of one or more seat belts.

4.) Is the seat height suited for the user? A handicap stair lift may be too high for a user. This would make it difficult and too dangerous for a handicapped person to operate.

5.) Does it start and stop smoothly? This is important for handicapped people, especially for those who are suffering from back pains or have a weak body. It might be too painful if a stair lift jerks when it comes to a stop or a start.

6.) Is the stair glide the correct height? Consider this very well, especially if the user is tall. It would be a hindrance instead of a help if your stair chair lift is not of the correct height from the stairs.

A handicap stair lift that fits the needs of the user can be found through research. If you can read reviews and look at the specifications of the different products, you can easily find the right one for you and your house.

What about operating sustem? battery or electric? noisy or quiet? Warranty of parts and system? Seat folds up out of the way? Where made? What about maintenance or repairs? Free installation? Installation guide? Chain driven, belt driven, cable, rack and pinion? How does it operate? All parts needed included?
Lifetime guarantee? Factory trained maintenance personnel? Average life of appliance? Buy back at end of use? I would want to know all about this before making my choice of a Chair Lift.
