When bending, both of my knees are extremely painful.

They have crunching sounds in them, or sounds as if they were rolling on gears and going through the notches. When I sit in a chair I have to do this with my legs straight and hold on to a table while I descend to the chair. Once sitting I can bend them slightly, or gently lift them to a bent position. As I do this they seem to feel as if they are caught on something and then they also pop. I straddle stairs one at a time with both legs straight, and step at the very end-side of each step, being left or right respectively for each leg. I always use 1-2 canes

Anybody out there have any clue as to what could be causing this very painful issue? I realize I may have to see a Dr. if it does not go away.

My dad has cancer and his legs are weak he can barely walk.

When we have to get him to therapy my uncle has to carry him outside and it is getting colder and harder to get him down the stairs.

I was wondering where can I get an electric lifter to lift him down with his wheel chair or without..

I’m not sure how they work and how much do they cost?
